fingers wiped on the piece of thin paper
with which the rice cake had been held.
Then the cup was placed on the mat.
The rim tipped towards the lady making
tea. The I was supposed to utter some
words in Japenese and the tea maker
and I both bowed.
The bowl the tea was served in
wasnlarger than a cup. Really a
small bowl, but only three good
swallows fills it. The tea as powder
was bright green and when whisked
was light and frothy still quite
green but perfectly delicious.
Meanwhile the lady was making tea
in another bowl. When it was finished
