Dearest Mother
Its just 6,20 and an hour before dinner
and th calves of our legs are so tired from going up
and down steps that we can't even cross them, our
[knee ?]hurts the other calf so, I made notes on the trip
up yesterday so as to try to tell you everthing
so be prepared fo a long drsgged out letter.

Much to our surpise after th terrible rainy
day we had Monday,Tuesday was the most perfect
day we had so far . We were up at seven and
ready for the trip to Nikko way ahead. of the two people
usually leave for the train. but we visited an gotup
and we were glad we did for the train was crowed and
and we were early enough to get good seats on the right side.
We had two big bags and a duffle bag with us and
the porter tied the two bags by the handles and slung
one over his back the other on his chest , balancing
them. We were in fear and [trembling ?] for some knew the
handlers seemed less secure above the ground so far,
but the japanese porters always use this method
and some of them look like Christmas trees with
suitcases,totes,bundles,coats and bird cages

on our train and a large procession of them went by ,
two by two . allthe same size about fourteen with
