Dearest Mother,

That was a very
hurried scribble I got off to you
this morning and I didn't have
a chance to read it over. I hated
to keep the girl waiting. She was
very friendly and trapsed all
over the boat with me, and we
had great fun watching the
people come aboard and remarking
on clothes etc and trying to guess
who were the ones going and
who the friends saying goodbye.
Its usually the most important
