3 We are so glad John & Bunny are all right. I'll still bet a good deal that it was largely caused by people talking & making remarks to Bunny insinuating ones. It makes me so mad the way people imagine things and then hint at them, when its none of their business.

The Italian tea sounded such fun but I guess I told you that.

I'd better be getting this into the mail. Will write again in about six days.

heaps of love

20 Banff. Alberta. Canada. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 1935.

Dearest Mother,

We are back safe and sound after the wettest trip I ever saw. I should have written this morning, but we had callers so to speak. {line}

This is as far as I got yesterday. We had so many people in, that we didn't even have time for supper and I think today will be equally bad, and tomorrow we are going to Lake O'Hara for a few days with Mr Kellerman (a photographer) and his drawing friends wife.

Yesterday morning [Re..i.s] Mighall and his wife Sophie (who waited on us several times at Lake Louise when you were here) came in. They are here for a vacation, he's a Mounted Police and they are a fine couple. Then Pete's Father came in as we were having lunch to talk about the coming elections. In the afternoon we went up to the Hotel to see some people, saw photographs of the Trail Hike and ended by bringing Mrs Anderson (a lady who takes parties of 30 to Honolulu etc & lecture s too) down to the hosue. Whike she was here, a

Mr Mitchell? came in to borrow some canvas. He is a well known New York Artist. They stayed from 5.30 until 7.30 and Pete drove them both back to the hotel, while I made sandwiches for the Kellermans came were due then. Luckily Mr Kellerman was a little late, so we had time for a glass of milk each. But he stayed until after eleven when he finally did come. He gave us a lot of helpful information about photographs. While he was here a Mrs Brown from Calgary called but I kept her on the doorstep. She's an awful woman.

It is now nearing fuve and I am just about all in Barbara & Bubly were here while we were eating breakfast. Carl Rungins? came as I finished making the bed. Mr Gibbon came at eleven to look at our photographs & sketches, and picked out nine sketches and three photographs they want to publish. They may not take them all but if they do it is $ 225, so worth and we get the sketches back. Miss Booz from Pittsburgh came in before he left and was here until lunch time or one. I was washing the dishes at two, when Mr Chapman & two

friends came in at two, looked at photographs until after Miss MaGowen & a Mrs Mitchull from Pasedena arrived, then the men left and the ladies stayed. Mrs Mitchall buying a sketch and some photographs. I guess its our lucky day and we still have Mr Palinski to get down from Chicago and Will Carter the "yodeling cowboy" to hear our Hawaiian Records . You've no idea how hard it is talking to so many people. We have at the {left margin, pencil: 'X'} crack of dawn for Lake O'Hara. We haven't even had time to get todays mail, but I better send this though the noon train left without it.

Friday, August 9 1935

Dearest Mother,

We came up there yesterday with the Kellermans, and it looks as if we might get some decent weather for a change. Today being perfect. The Links are here too and some friends of theirs as well and we are hoping to be back in September.

{Left margin, handwritten pencil: 'X'} The Trail Hike was too funny in some ways, for the weather was awful. We left Banff about 7.30 Friday morning. Sun shining though it had rained hard Thursday. Two Buses took us part way, though one got stuck a mile from Healy Creek and we had to walk that. Everyone was in high spirits and we made a brisk start in four groups, though later on we were all mixed up. There were all ages represented, from a boy ten up to Mrs Vaux who is no chicken. She goes slowly but gets there in fine shape. Most of the first day was on trails in the woods, not too much climbing in the eleven miles but a steady pull. A number of rain showers helped to keep us cool, and the pack train which passed us succeeded
