island started with the top down
though it looked a bit showery
over the Pali. However we were
dressed in old clothes. We went
along gaily and just before we
reached the top of the Pali (which
is a sort of pass over the mountains)
there were two or three warning ?
days and then it just poured.
you've never seen it rain harder.
We paused under a tree to put
bath towells over our knees. But
even if we put the top up it
meant getting the seat soaked.
Pete thought it would only last
a moment, so we dashed on.
