2 more vivid as it reaches the horizon. Though its a yellow glow at first reaching way up into the sky it later becomes a brilliant rouge? of red on the sky line There are usually clouds which seem to drop behind the sea as if it were a shelf and the color is reflected in the wet sand on the beach. We go down almost every evening to the beach to watch it. And usually there are just the Hawiaian beach boys playing on the sand or in the water they love the sunset time and their dark figures silhouetted against a brilliant sky are fascinating to watch. Sometimes their wet skin will catch the light. They love football and play all day

3 a sort of touch football. it seems to be a game that no one wins or loses and their or no rules, they just play. They also have great fights though again no one wins or loses for they never actually hit each other. They dance about and act as if they were fighting snd look as if they were champions its fun to watch. Last evening there was one boy who was having a terrific battle with an imaginary foe. He danced about the way real fighters do and then would knock some terrific blows and then dodge imaginary ones. No one paid any attention to him and he was enjoying it thoroughly. Frank one of the best built and best looking boys sat and talked eith us a while. He has the whitest teeth you ever saw and is awfully nice.

We have definitely decided to go to Kauii Thursday. The open Ford use have bought second hand seems to be working well. Its old but the top goes up and down and it must have had good care. The seats are real leather and its very comfortable to drive in. Its a four passenger with two doors only not four. We will take it with us to Kauii.

We haven't been doing a great deal this week but paint and getting things piled? up. errands about town etc. We saw two excellent movies. One twices because the photography is so

lovely, "The Rebel". Tell Russ & Kitty and Ebbs? & Frances & Jean too not to miss it. I'm afraid NJ the fighting you wouldn't like but the first part is too lovely. Taken in the Austrian Tyrol. Its by the same man, Luis Trenker who made the "Doomed Battalion". The other was "Mine for Tonight" taken in Switzerland Im sure its a movie you reall would like. Its very amusing some lovely scenery and excellent singing. If they want

6 you to see a movie, pick that one if you can. Its excellent and so well done.

{Faint X at start paragraph} One day we went around the island started with the top down though it looked a bit showery over the Pali. However we were dressed in old clothes. We went along gaily and just before we reached the top of the Pali (which is a sort of pass over the mountains) there were two or three warning ? days and then it just poured. you've never seen it rain harder. We paused under a tree to put bath towells over our knees. But even if we put the top up it meant getting the seat soaked. Pete thought it would only last a moment, so we dashed on.
