It was quite a day and 7, when we got back. My Hay fever cold had by this time become so stuffy I could neither breath in or out and sounded like Frank Craven with a cold in his head on the stage. We set out for supper and saw Mabel who gave us the leis. When you see how bright they are you won't wonder we had to go way back to the room to leave them, and then start out again for supper. We were supposed to go to the movies with 'Hiram?', Curly & Peter but my cold was too bad. We got some rum and where we had supper I sounded so funny that the lady gave us nearly a quarter pound of sugar to go with it and no charge. We went to three places for a corkscrew and ended by having it opened at a fruit stand. By this time it was about

{Top centre: "22"} nine so I had a hot rum, felt "wuzzy" and went to bed. The next morning I was a new person. My cold all broken up. A hot rum does wonders. It was a queer sort of cold for I never felt sick or had a sore throat and all the time it seemed more like something irritating my nose. It went soon any how. Thursday was our last day. We spent the morning getting our ticket & express checks, baggage insurance and sent you the cable. the cable was to give you our address in Japan and it shows how I'm breaking up for I never mentioned it. We rushed around all day. In the afternoon Pearl took us downtown. Pete collecting the 2 pictures at the Art Academy - I mailing packages & getting "Japan Day-by-Day". We then framed a sketch (pencil) for Mrs 'Fulsher?' & later got Louis who works at the garage to take us there & say good bye to them. another sketch

I forgot there is a large package by express of "The little Lei Girl" and a black frame & one of Curly which you aren't to take too seriously. Then most important package of all is the box of sketches. Some are all right but don't let anyone see the poor ones that are unsigned. You might give your dinner guests a change of scenery if you like - one of my cloud ones isn't at all finished. You may recognize some of them on Kauai from the photograhs. Pete wants to build some of them up later into larger pictures. We had dinner with the Moores being the last night and then went to "Lady for a day" meeting 'Hiram?', Curly & Peter there at the Movie house. It was an excellent movie. They came back with us to help us finish packing. For we were anything but packed. However we

The boat sailed at 10 A.M. and was it hectic! Pete saw to getting the last two bundles off while I turned in keys and checked us out. getting back to the room with leis from the hotel and from Jack 'Donney?'. We then saw 'Louis?' with more leis for us. Jake took the bags and we left word about easels etc and tried to have breakfast at the 'luau?' stand. Peter 'Makia?' had tube rose leis for both of us and Joe Akana made a very touching presentation of a double ilima lei from the Hui Nalu Club and the two waitresses Lillian and Alice. They all having put in some money. The ilima lei is the very nicest being orange and made out of thousands of tiny flowers. Joe also had two other leis each who from I'm not sure. Then Joe 'Miner?' gave us each one. We were fairly swamped now and I was wondering how we were going to ever get away It was nearly nine by this time. Then we [m..d] Eddie 'Walkee?' who rushed off to buy more leis. Pete decided to go down with Parker and I went with the Moores. They stopped to buy leis from Elisha and

{Top centre: "25"} he had two leis for us. It was long after nine when I got on board and we both went on different gang planks so there was more running round to do to find us. Four Calgary people came to see us off and Jimmy Wilder was down, and then Curly Parker & Joe besides the Moores. We were afraid we might feel weepy, but luckily we were a long way away from the band and it wasn't too bad! Elisha came up to wave goodbye & we threw streamers and all went well. It had been hectic but really not a bad way to leave. It was pretty going out too and later in the afternoon we went by Kauaii & Nihau {wrong spelling}. we were too far off to see much. The boat is too good to be true. We have a large cabin on deck B with outside porthole & new type ventilation it has two bunks, or really a bed, and under the porthole a very 'lumpy?' seat. We have a big double cupboard, a large sink and each a sort of table with double drawers and two chairs. All this for tourist & convenient to the Bathrooms. It couldn't be nicer. There are only 34 Tourist passengers and we have lots of room. A big dining saloon with ports on both sides, nice and airy, and
