June 27 - 1930. Friday 3pm train to N.Y.C. Hotel [Perera] Roxy's in pm - with Ma + Dad. June 28 - 1930 - Saturday. Elwood over on 7am train. Dad and I to grand Central Art galleries then to S.S. Leviathan, Pier 86. foot of W.46th St. Baggage consists of one large suitcase each (3) 1 black suitcase for bottles, 1 carry all for shoes. 1, hat box, my duffle - steamer trunk. Small bag of BH G. for passports etc. My camera (movie) umbrellas [&] ice ax - Caroline [Huimau] [&] Crick [Aruesting] to see us off. Sail at noon D.S.T. Packages + greetings. 1. June 29 Sunday - Friday July 4th On board. Two warm days in gulf stream. One gorgeous day, two rather rough + raw. Staterooms 488 - + 484 Deck E. Mine inside On board were - Judge and Mrs. Schaffer. Friday, July 4 - Disembarked at Cherbourg Breakfasted about seven, supposedly late. Off in first tender about 8pm. Met by Bartlett - Dixon agent + passed customs there in Cherbourg easily. Train to Paris at 9:10am about. Lunch on train with Mrs [Hesty] (a Pittsburgh woman, married to Swiss + living in Basle) Arrived Paris at 2:46 pm. Met by Mr. Armfield of Bartlett + put in taxi for Hotel Chathaeu Dinner at Chathaeu, not too good on Rue S[cribe] block from Place de l'opera. Taxi out to [Bors] [?] home in evening Saturday July 5 - In Paris - headache + sick. stayed in bed till dinner at Cafe de la Paix. Leave on 10pm train to Geneva - upper berth in compartment with [Arte] Dad having single.
