going to trianglelation for heights of mts. Camp below their camp on Siffleur River. Bumpy camp ground [dash] many little springs near to wash in. Fri. 10 Woke up at seven with [Field?] dog Jimmie in the tent. Went to sleep again + got up at nine Hot cakes for breakfast. Wrote letters to Ma + Dad + [M.M.H.?] Lunch at 1:30 Fields come over + take movies + we all take pictures. I took a whole roll (roll II.) Got one foot wet [dash] thats all Lunch at 1 [dash] rest till 2 camp 3:20 on Siffleur have gone about 16 miles Camp right on bank of river Go swimming in a stream of clear water back of camp with Busty. others go in river further down Look at [..ap? ] + have supper. Breakfast + pack. Leave before 10. Rode Tricky [dash] Rode through burnt timber + over fallen logs. one place the horses have to jump quite high. Hope tears her stocking + her leg on tree. with Rosie after her. Went swimming but I didnt go in. Went to see the Indians who are camped across a meadow after supper. Met [Gussie?] Beaver + Silas [Abraham?] Peter Beaver + squaw with two little boys Jimmy + Johnny who are friendly + bashful respectively Also met Susie [Horse?] who was educated at a mission school + talked quite good English Caroline buys moccassins very prettily beaded but they had been worn

[Guisie?] Beaver has a papoose, probably a grand child. + innumerable heads popped out of the tepee. Marguerite, Louise + I come home early but the rest stay for sports [dash] our guides go over + we three joined them. They did pole vault, broad + high jumps, shot put + javeline throw played with tepee poles, string + rocks. Had cocoa when we got back. then heard a tom-tom + went + sat in the meadow.

Mon 13. Louises' birthday. Frank has a shirt of buckskin which he will pay $11 for but Silas wants 12 = Jim has good looking beaded mocassins. I washed out everything. Then eight of us go shooting with a .22 colt. I hit the target for all 6 shots + a score of 25. Indians watch us from bank. Marguerite, Barbara Caroline + Jim go to Ranger's cabine for lunch Mr. Alfred + Jim Miller are camped at the ranch

gathered flowers for table [dash] harebells, bed straw golden rod. [Dru..im.nds d...s?] wrote poems for Louises party. + tied up presents for everyone. Rangers here for dinner too. Jim makes cakes + presents are on two trees one at each end of the table. Rode Whitey in afternoon bareback.
