wild strawberries. Camped by White Goat. All went swimming in [White?] goat where little stream came in. Wearing the mocassins I bought for three dollars from Gussie Beaver but they smell terribly Very hot + dusty all day. Venison for dinner was delicious. Did stunts with pole after dinner + Madelaine stood on her head. Bed at 11 sleeping out for first time under pine tree. Slept well. Woke early + put head of bed over me +

the next thing I heard was "hot water" [dash] Thurs 16. Hot cakes for breakfast (called before 7) Riding Brownie who I find I dont like. Rough + stumbles + has a mouth of cast iron. a pack horse's soul + all [ seems?] donkey or mule but the first 10 inches of her tail. Lunched on Corral Creek where there was little shade. Lay under the bushes. Hot + dusty. Corral Creek is where we had lunch

last year the day we came down the White Goat Trail very faint + wriggley going up a hill, only to come down. Ride after Jim going up hill to above timber line. Spring of wawa there + we rest ten minutes till the pack is in sight. Jim is blazing the trail. Go down hill + cross creek to east side to camp. Early summer. Wash below camp. Lost my watch-wheel pin, also lens in camera finder. Went back after supper + found lens. Pin gone

cocoa + biscuits at 9 Talk with Marguerite (..ickle ...ty?) by fire about jobs + Girl Scouts. Bed. everyone sleeping out (altho?) Bill. Tent is up. Fri 17. whom I like very much. His slow but easy gait + the most sure footed I've ever had out here If I have a stick in my hand he goes along very well. Lunch on creek where vally divides [dash] Stay there two hours while Jim + Frank hunt the trail. Go up valley to left. Trail vague + disappears at times Finally come up to pass mountains all around and animal trails all around on the shale

Coyote to right watches us some time. Go round to right + camp on hill cook tent at bottom + find we are not on the right trail. Other valley of Corral creek ap{hyphen} parently comes in here + up to the Pass. Jim searches for trail in evening. Starts to rain after supper. Marg. Louise, Busty, Caty + I in [...?] [dash] tent. We call it the tenement. Laugh + talk till 9:30. Then

sleep. Beds hard + rocky but I fare very well. Sat 18. Seven o'clock but no call. Get up with others in tent. Jim brings hot water up on horseback. He's starting off with Frank to find our trail. Lie in tent all morning. Louise reading. the others are washing etc. [Air?] bed before lunch. Then write diary + will write home. Jim is not back yet. Wash in early afternoon with Marguerite. Jim has found trail + had a drink from the Brazeau

Target practise. I get 17.28.(41) + M.S. is next. with 29.14. Supper + play sardines . + other games afterwards on hill I hid under my sleeping bag. Talk till eleven with M.S. but couldnt sleep till later. alone in Bell Tent. Sun 19 Ride Tex up the hill to the tents [dash] [I teep?] take down Bell. Go on Tex to get water for [Bonau?] for fires. Start 9:45. Ride up pass + then to [reach?]

over top. every one takes pictures. very windy on skyline. Pack left early + is ahead of us. Wait near canyon for Jim to find trail + start lunch. Led or drove horses down over stones + then down a bank. Tex drives quite well but wont lead rarely. Lunch after canyon + then reach Brazeau Ford stream + camp near rangers cabin. Rainy + tenement is crowded! Sit around + play ghosts. Then

watch men store up food for home trip in cabin. Talk around cook fire about "1 tin [dash] man [alumnae?] Campers." Cocoa. + as it rains we go to bed. Mon 20. Guides take Bell down when we are at breakfast. Start early good trail up Brazeau to Lake. Lovely view + take 2 pictures [dash] one of Lake. End of line all day. Lunch above
