pleasures. In the evning there
are often women on the sidewalks
making and selling leis, and
it is most surprising to have them
wander up to sel them to you and
though you smile and say"no"
they merely smile in return as
if you were an old friend and
sat, "good evening" and then
wander away without pressing
you to buy any more. Every one
smiles here and it is rather nice.

When we got to the hotel I met
Guy Davenport, the manager who used
to be in Banff, and the head waiter,
another Banff person and so is the
head clerk too. Pete introduced me
to all the clerks etc and showed me
