7. It stopped as quickly as it had begun and we soon dried off. The next shower we ran into [....] worse so we did finaly put the top up. It is a very lovely & interesting drive around the island. Little villages and beaches. Some farms & some dairy farms. We stopped to see David. He is a pure Hawaiian and has built a grass hut where he lives in native fashion, shows tourists how the Hawaiians used to live and is a great character and a very fine person. He is busy building some new huts were people can go and stay and we are thinking of going over there later on and painting them.

[Centre top] 8. We had lunch at Coopers Ranch where they have delicious meals for tourist s and it certainly tasted good. We had a drink made out of Passion Fruit, which looks something like an apple and another fruit which I've never seen or heard of before called ["Ka..i..a"] or something like that. It looks like five sections of grape fruit covered with a bald shiny skin. Larger than an apple. The room was filled with [?] blossoms. everywhere here they pick the blossoms, (no leaves) put them on sticks and they arrange them in a bowl of any kind of leaves. They last a day without water and are placed all around rooms. all along window sills or anywhere. Its quite lovely but sometimes over done. {yellow or orange stains, likely tea, dotted on bottom right quarter of page}

[Top Centre] 9. {Top left of centre, red hand written: '12'} {MOANA-SEASIDE HOTEL letter head}

Your letters have been great and I'm afraid I never notice any mistakes. You see I make so many myself that its easier to read if you make some too. It was nice Kitty could go to Salem with you and now the [..ges] will be delighted to think she went down to see them. They really are like people in a book, some how you wonder if they ever were young. I guess they never were [....lous], were they?

[Centre top] 10 If you want a game for Thanksgiving try the race of carrying beans on the end of one straw across the room, taking say five beans from one dish at one end of the room & placing them in another dish at the other end of the room. Its heaps of fun and most amusing. Do let me know what Russ & Kitty plan to do. When they go etc. And how is the house getting along. It will be nice for them to have a home to plan for and think of even if they can't live there right away. Its better than having no special place to think of at all.

The clippings were fine? and I do enjoy them.

Loads of love for now, to all and heaps to you from us both.

Catharine.
