Last gasp camp + eat brunch on log before Last gasp. Have bannock + jam at Canyon at 3:45 where we stayed 55 minutes It tasted mighty good. Then rode past the mud [hole?] + several nearly went in. Jim + Charlie both swam their horses in a [hole?] when we met the pack. Uncle Harry + Hope nearly go over horses head at place where Billis jumped to land last year.

Pass place where I went in with many comments. Camp at Graveyard {above the line: 'at 7 pm.'} which is where Pinto Pass trail comes in. Frank + Shorty got in yesterday + Shorty just got back from the North Fork. Jack Brewster's party (six, I think) are camped down there [dash] Tenement up + we pile in Big Tepee + a little tepee pitched. Late dinner very good and cocoa later in big tepee Tenement talks and laughs till late. Louise talks in her sleep.

Saw cow + calf moose in river. Auber saw them as they came

out on our side, chased them back + forth until they finally got out on the far side of the river. Logs on the trail through the woods afford fine jumping. Tenement except Tooney conspire to ride front back of Jim + succeed quite well. Lunch about 1 1/2 mi. above North Fork camp site Then came down trail in woods by camp on Jack Brewster + party camped on our old site They had gone to glacier Lake + only cook +

packer were there. Ford easy but fun. Camp on bluff above river Watch pack cross + Frank with Dynamite in tow. takes ford Jim used in June + has to swim. Caroline, Jim + I went to call on Brewster party who consists of the woman we met at Robson named Ecaubert from Brooklyn, another woman, Mr. Billings, Brooklyn Mr. Howard Vernon, whom C.H. knew, a Alpine Clubber + a man who preferred to walk + had already started Mr. + Mrs. Jack Brewster 2 packers + a cook. They have a horse that looks just like Whitey. I didnt know there were two [dash] Caroline + Jim go out in the river to

swim the horses but have a hard time to find deep enough water for [grie..o.d?] but they do swim a stroke or two. There is nothing to climb as Murchison is across the Mistaya Wilson across the Sask R. + Sarbach pretty far. "Field Day" with Tug o war etc in aft. Tenement vs others. Wed 19. Rode up Mistaya River through woods, lunching at small pond above river. Murchison range is to left all morning. Pass good horse feed and leave Dynamite there to recoup. Cut down through timber to left at Wildfowl or Water {hyphenated word: 'Waterfowl'} fowl Lake + camp near second lake. Deep ford over Mistaya River. Ellen, Caroline + I swim + return to camp, crossing several small streams on logs. Sleep in cheese box for first time as no other tent is up. Bridge and large fire in front of tent.
